For us at IG International, being responsible means doing much more than merely following guidelines and doing the bare minimum. For us being responsible means actively engaging in making positive changes and making the right decisions for not just our business but also our employees, our customers and end users and most importantly how we look after the very seas and farms where we source our products. Responsibility means always doing this better.
Accreditations for our sourcing are only the beginning
The food industry is one of the most carefully managed and inspected and controlled industries on the planet and as every year passes new standards are brought in to protect consumers, the environment and the natural products that come from it. Here at IG we want to always be at the leading edge of what is expected of a modern, caring and above all responsible food supply company. We think that this is especially important in our particular industry as the seas and farms that supply fish and seafood are in many cases still a ‘wild’ natural resource. This is why we have our own very high standards in terms of where we source our raw material. Our commitment to being responsible from how we get our raw material to the moment it’s delivered to you is paramount in our philosophy and as we continue to grow it will continue to be a guiding principle.
“We are committed to reaching accreditations and standards that help set us apart from other companies in our field”
Looking after our people
As well as ensuring that the products we source, process and supply are of the highest quality we are also concerned with ensuring that we look after the most important part of our business, our people. At IG we employ people throughout our sites across Asia, and we have a responsibility to all of them to treat them well, ensure they have a safe environment to work in and above all are treated with respect.
Protecting the environment
At IG we are acutely aware that our industry is special. Whilst there have been many technological improvements and advancements, it is still an industry that relies heavily on the natural world, wild environments the cycle of nature. The need for us to act responsibly and with care and thoughtfulness is a guiding principle in how our business operates. From the sourcing of wild and farmed raw materials from new suppliers to ensuring current suppliers reach new standard, we believe that the more effort we put in to looking after the environment the better it will be for everyone. From cutting down on waste where we can to making our processing plants more energy efficient and investing in better, cleaner technologies, we are always looking to make positive changes.
“The real mark of a successful company is one which makes positive change and helps set the standards by which others measure themselves.”
